Walrus began with Sam and Kit and a shared passion for cold immersion, design and the belief that the spaces and rituals around wellbeing deserve greater consideration.
What started as a personal practice became the foundation for Walrus: creating an ice bath that performs beautifully, belongs naturally within its surroundings and makes the ritual easier to return to every day.
Today, that idea is being shaped by a wider team bringing together design, engineering, operations and brand.

The people behind the idea
Sam Trickett and Kit Maplethorpe came to Walrus from different worlds, but shared a similar perspective on the cold.
For Sam, cold immersion became part of a wider shift towards wellbeing, presence and personal growth. After a highly successful career as a professional poker player, where he became one of Britain’s most accomplished players, he was drawn to practices that helped him stay calm under pressure and become more comfortable with discomfort. Cold immersion became one of those practices and remains an important part of how he lives today.
Kit is a designer and founder of Bloom Studio. His work spans interiors, residences and wellness spaces, with a focus on materials, proportion and atmosphere. At Walrus, he leads the product and design direction, shaping both the bath itself and the wider environments around it.
Their shared perspective became the starting point for Walrus and continues to influence how the product, the spaces around it and the wider brand evolve.
